Cradle of Life- Music by Wan Li The dance of Water derives from the Ballet “Lijiang River Sentiment” The ballet’s story is based on a Guangxi Province folk tale of love between a mountain and river spirit ­ two elements that make the Li River famous for the quintessentially Chinese quality of its beauty. The dance takes at the small spring that is the river’s origin. A water spirit contemplates her reflection and revels in sheer joy at the beauty of her surroundings.
